| Remembering Wouter Barendrecht (1965-2009) |
|
Wouter Barendrecht, co-founder of the arthouse cinema distribution company Fortissimo and Hong Kong's adopted son, was a singular force in opening contemporary Asian cinemas to the world. Wouter passed away this April at the age of 43. Join us to remember him with the four titles that he produced. All box office proceeds after expenses will go to the Wouter Barendrecht Foundation to support Asian young filmmakers. |

| Restored Classics |
The screening of the restored version of A Brighter Summer Day at Cannes this May pointed to a crisis that even classics cannot avoid – loss of original camera negatives. Edward Yang passed away two years ago, and Taiwan New Cinema emerged two decades back – with A City of Sadness winning a Golden Lion at Venice, but these two classics have rarely graced the big screen since their initial release. With the support of ERA International (HK) Limited, we are fortunate to present a new print of City to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Together with the restored print of Summer Day, there’s more than enough to enjoy.
